Silicon Energy is committed to sustainable products and manufacturing in the USA.
In August 2011, Silicon Energy MN opened in the Northeastern Minnesota community of Mt. Iron.
Silicon Energy MN stems from solar innovations in the State of Washington, where in 2007, Silicon Energy became the first certified PV module manufacturer in the state. Internationally renowned inverter manufacturer, Outback Power, based in Arlington, Washington, recognized the opportunity to deliver a similarly world class solar PV module to the market, and started up Silicon Energy to do just that. Working with industry experts from NREL, Georgia Tech, and Silicon Valley tech companies, Silicon Energy developed and manufactured the Cascade series, a rugged and aesthetically designed PV module for integrated installations such as carports and awnings. Silicon Energy MN brought the Cascade to Minnesotans with the new manufacturing facility in 2011.
In 2014, Silicon Energy MN partnered with a world-class US manufacturer to bring a new solution to meet Minnesota’s growing solar industry demand for a locally produced standard module design. The company continues its history of high quality products with the Voyageur PV module. Using high-efficiency, US-made monocrystalline solar cells, the Voyageur offers maximum power output in a double-glass design for enhanced durability and an industry-leading 30-year power warranty. Compatible with microinverters, DC optimizers, and widely available residential and commercial racking systems, the Voyageur offers Minnesotans a more adaptable and durable PV module that is made here in MN.
